Why does
this exist?

I was at my kid's soccer practice, half-watching, half-scrolling, when I saw a tweet about outbid.lol, a website where people pay real money to be ranked #1 at nothing. Zero utility. Just vibes and a leaderboard.

I don't know what happened next. Instead of watching my kid learn to trap a ball, I fell into a research hole about pay-to-rank sites and bid-directories, and by the time practice ended I had a plan and, somehow, my kid still doesn't know I missed most of the good bits.

I built and shipped numberone.sg that same night. Partly because the idea wouldn't leave me alone, partly to see how fast you can actually ship something with AI tools these days. Turns out: pretty fast.

Singapore is already obsessed with being #1. Best airport in the world, most years running. Safest country you can name. Near the top of every PISA table. Easiest place on earth to start a business, according to somebody's index or other. We've spent sixty years getting ranked by everyone else, and somewhere along the way it just became part of the personality. A website where an aircon uncle, a hawker stall, or a startup can pay to be #1 directly, no five-year plan required, felt less like a joke and more like cutting out the middleman. Also, everything here has a purpose and a KPI, so building something genuinely pointless on a school night, instead of sleeping, felt like its own small rebellion.

If it flops, it cost me one night and taught me something. If it doesn't, some hawker stall or aircon uncle gets fifteen minutes of the internet's attention they'd never have gotten otherwise. And if neither happens, I've at least added one more listing to my personal graveyard of domains nobody asked for. This one's just prettier than the others.
